Formed in 2018 in the French town of Menton, WORMSAND have found the right balance between sludge’s dark heaviness and grunge’s roughness. While the musicians lay claim to references such as Yob, Monolord and Alice In Chains, the trio stand out for their bold sonic imprint. Their sophisticated sound combines multiple vocal techniques, shifting intensity at any time. Overpowering riffs and surprising breaks are shaking up an already hectic experience.
The band released a self-titled debut EP in 2019 on Saka Čost. WORMSAND’s very first album entitled ‘Shapeless Mass’ came out in 2021 in close collaboration with Saka Čost, Poutrasseau Records and Stellar Frequencies. The ambitious opus dusts off classic stoner doom by incorporating the band’s trademark: rhythmic breakdowns and audacious vocals. The heavy psychedelic influence is perfectly embraced, allowing the band to get off the wall and build a strong identity.
WORMSAND got the chance to hit the road across France and Europe, delivering astonishing visual and sound performances designed to unsettle the average doom enthusiast. The trio have gained notoriety by supporting heavyweights like Dopethrone, Mars Red Sky or Messa.
In 2022 they released a live album via Stellar Frequencies, before signing to Mrs Red Sound in early 2024. The record label produced their new album ‘You, The King’ – out since November 8th 2024 on vinyl, CD and digital formats.
