The bittersweet lyricism that emanates from JULIEN PRAS’s music draws inspiration from Anglo-Saxon literature, abounding in dreams and fantasy. Whilst his chords evoke a much-needed escape, his otherworldly voice takes refuge in a cocoon of spleen, generously expressing his love for folk and harmonies. Beyond Elliott Smith, his work lies at the crossroads of other major figures of melancholic pop such as Nick Drake – for the ethereal, woody quality and the gentleness of the acoustic arrangements – and 1960s Sunshine Pop artists such as the Beatles – for the structure of the songs and the relevance of the melodies.
Discreet and genuine figure on France’s indie pop scene, JULIEN PRAS gained recognition through his work with Pull, Calc and Victory Hall. He currently serves as vocalist and guitarist in the heavy psychedelic trio Mars Red Sky.
JULIEN PRAS’ new album ‘Minor Fall’ is dropping on October 30th 2026 via Les Disques du Paradis and Mrs Red Sound.
